Friday, April 30, 20041:27 PM - ughWednesday, April 28, 200411:32 AM - The Master of Impending Oblivion busts out the popsicle sticks. it's craft time!Hopefully I'll be able to post pictures when I am all done, though! Thursday, April 22, 20044:08 PM - and I updated my actual website, tooI have also done a bit more on the scarf, but I just spent a good part of the afternoon in Photoshop, and I am just too darn lazy to make you people yet another progress bar. So just imagine for yourself that I am halfway through the next purple stripe, and you will be pretty darn close. Not bad for a project that I only do while I'm in the office at work. Finally, a message out there to all you phantom E-viters... RSVP!! My goodness. I can see when you "Viewed the Evite on April 22nd" but didn't deign to leave a response. And I love all the personal attention of getting messages in my blog, or on e-mail, or in person, but please! The technologuy (whoa.... I meant technology, but I think the Technologuy might have to make a cameo in a project sooner or later...) the Technologuy exists so please use him, point your browsers to Evite and RSVP on the official list. That would be awexome, thanks. Tuesday, April 20, 20044:32 PM - one day I will have something exciting to post![]() ![]() ![]() Monday, April 19, 20042:26 PM - Pay no attention to the man behind the curtain. No, I mean it. Really.Isn't it nice to see how NASA operates? I'm just going to stick to my knitting and be thankful that my office is at the other end of the hall, so I can only hear it when I'm in the hallway and not in my office. Thursday, April 15, 20045:53 PM - Tony obsesses about hosting a party. Someone help me vacuum? This stuff is hard for me.I have decided to counter that by having my very own party, something I don't do very often. The theme of the party is supposed to be Spies and Archvillains and James Bond/Austin Powers/Get Smart-style people and costumes. I'll be hosting as Dr. Oblivion from my chic penthouse observatory. So far, people have proposed a bunch of costumes that have nothing to do with the theme, and I am a little concerned that people don't get it. If you're on the Evite, can you let me know if it's unclear? I mean.... I would hate for someone to put a lot of effort into dressing up and then have it be weird because they thought it was a generic costume party. Also, genuinely wanted to allow people to add other people to the invite, in case I missed someone or didn't know their e-mail address or it's someone new who'd really love the party... but now a couple names have shown up on the invite and I don't know them. Must... subdue... inner... control... freak.... whoa, that took willpower. Finally, I'm sure I'll be working on the scarf late tonight since I'm at work with no other entertainment, but here's a progress bar anyway: ![]() ![]() ![]() Sunday, April 11, 20048:43 PM - sleepy not wittyI think the most noticable thing that happened for Easter this year was that my co-worker went away so I had to work. At least working weird hours when no one else is around means that sometimes, I get the bright, sunny days to myself, instead of being trapped in a half-cubicle.After working, I went to San Francisco to see an aerial dance performance. I haven't seen circus since December, so this was a great opportunity to be inspired again. I was very much dreading seeing any members of the SF circus community at this show, because even though I really miss my circus friends, it's really painful for me to think or talk about my shoulder injury. It's really tough for me to think about going back to the circus school, partly because I feel that the negligence and attitudes at that school are what caused me to get injured in the first place. I also don't want to start doing aerial work again in such a catty, judgemental, probing (and non-injury conscious) environment. Despite the bad points, though, there are some good trainers and a real sense of community there, even if the community is weird sometimes. Sidetracked! I was dreading seeing circus people, and of course I saw two right off the bat. It was really great to reconnect with both of them, and it wasn't worth the dread or the angst at all. In fact, after all my self-image related angst, it was hilarious to see one of them check me out twice before he recognized me as someone he knew. Haha. And I was worried about my haircut or how I dress. The show was really good. I was inspired. Terry Sendgraff specifically asked me to go to the show as an opportunity to see some of her work, although I'll admit that I was too chicken to actually approach her and introduce myself. I'm hoping to take one of her classes this summer to ease myself back into aerial work and also to get in touch with creative work and movement rather than acrobatics and tricks. I know some tricks already, although I could always practice them... but I wanna learn more about expression, and Terry is awesome for that. So yeah, I'm taking her class starting in May. It was easy to see at the show who was trained as an acrobat and who was trained as a dancer. There was only one (funny!!) piece that defied both conventions by telling a story. Elizabeth Clarke was -so- good at the acrobat version, though, she would notify the audience that it was time to clap with the gestures of her wrist. So overall, I'm inspired to work on aerial stuff again. Which is good, because I miss it... but I don't have to anymore. Thursday, April 08, 20042:44 PM - what to wear, what to wear![]() ![]() ![]() Anyway. Yay. Doing the math, I've done 4000 out of 33600 stitches. Hopefully by the time I am done, the tender sore spot on my finger will be nice and tough. Update: On another note, I just got invited to a party being hosted by someone I only know through LiveJournal, where a few of my friends keep their blogs. There's this whole community blogging thing going on, where people post and reply and update each other in everyone's different blogs, so it's like one giant communal e-mail graffiti board, except that most of the people you interact with are your friends and their friends... etc. It's going to be a fun and fascinating experience, I can just imagine. I think it might be a costume party as well. heh. Ooooh! And a final note to anyone who reads this and remembers... I need to get those digital pictures from Binh! I have to go e-mail him right this minute. Wednesday, April 07, 200412:33 PM - this is what I do at work![]() ![]() ![]() My weekend went reasonably well. I was out a lot. I'm feeling a strong urge to sit down and focus on some creative projects, so I think April and May are going to be project months. In a way, having a website like this is a good motivator for me to keep doing new things and updating. I'm also tenatively thinking of throwing a party in May, just because. I want it to be a theme party, though... so I need a theme. I'm thinking that unfinished knitting projects is probably not a good theme, so I'd appreciate any and all suggestions... |
