Wednesday, August 22, 20072:39 PM - be excellent to each otherlike, whoaInteresting to see Bush making comparisons between the war in Iraq and Vietnam. Did not expect him to do that. Monday, August 20, 20071:24 PM - bop!Barney and BettyI haven't updated in a while. Oops! On Sunday I went to a flea market in San Francisco, something I haven't done in a long time. It was a beautiful day and I went with another SF person who spent some time in Vermont (and who, not surprisingly, knows Fenny). The tricky thing about the flea market is that you have to balance "expectations" with "desire to buy crazy things." If you try to imagine the perfect thing in your head, you can't possibly expect to find it among the piles of urban rubble. If you don't go in with any understanding of what you're looking for, then you're bound to buy a bunch of shiny useless objects that will sit in their own little pile of rubble once you get home. And because it's San Francisco, you are paying -premium- prices for this rubble, and sometimes for the stories that come along for the ride. "I shot it myself back in '69!" Sure ya did. Also went to a BBQ that was serving home-brewed honey mead. I am lucky that stuff takes months and months to mature, because it's really tasty. And... I don't even drink, usually. FurnitureQuest is well underway, and I am hopefully picking up a few more pieces this week. I eventually want a home that I can live in and have guests. My big goal for this week is to come up with a rug to go with the sofa and coffee table I'm getting from a co-worker later in the week. I also need.... lots of storage stuff. And the willpower to put all this stuff up and turn it into a home. Baby steps. The running is going really well. We are doing a spontaneous 15K run on Sunday rather than our usual training run. It will be great fun. I still want to go to a race someday and yell, "Run for your lives!" Um.. I don't know how that would be received. Alternately, I was thinking of singing one verse of "Little Bunny Foo Foo" at the start/finish line on each lap. At the end (of course by this time in my imagining, the plan involved costumes) the Good Fairy could turn Bunny Foo Foo into a Goon by pulling off its ears to reveal rainbowy slinkys that boing all over the place. I can't decide whether I should be Little Bunny Foo Foo or the Good Fairy. I think the indecision will allow me to keep my dignity in public. Phew. |
